Stained Glass and Chestnut Barn Door

Elkins Park, PA

Our client came to us with an antique stained glass panel and the idea for a sliding barn door for their kitchen renovation. We were inspired by the interior design which included industrial style accents. Reclaimed American Chestnut wood for the door was the right choice to compliment the space. The stained Glass was bordered with ebonized white oak to tie into the darker accents in the space as well as the black border coated hardware. We filled knots in the wood with epoxy mixed with copper pigment to tie into the copper straps of the range hood.

American Chestnut wood went extinct in the US in the early 1900s due to a blight. The only source is from reclaiming beams and joists from old barns and homes.
